From kindergarten to fifth grade, classrooms participated in lessons focused on courage, community service and remembrance.
**Kindergarten (Ms. Troia's class):** Young learners introduced foundational concepts of the day by building vocabulary around terms like memorial, first responder, courage, remembrance and heroes. The class read "The Man in the Red Bandanna" by Honor Crowther Fagan before completing commemorative Patriot Day coloring projects.
**Second grade (Ms. Pereira's class):** Students created reflective artwork dedicated to honoring the memory of the 9/11 victims.
**Fourth grade (Ms. Gansler's class):** Fourth graders focused on expressing gratitude to local everyday heroes, including police officers, firefighters and paramedics, by writing appreciation letters thanking them for their bravery, sacrifice and ongoing dedication to public safety.
**Fifth grade (Ms. Farrell's class):** Older students analyzed historical accounts of 9/11 heroes, engaging in reading and written reflection activities to process facts and share their personal reactions to the selfless acts of that day.
"We are incredibly proud of our students for remembering, honoring and expressing their gratitude in such thoughtful ways," said Principal Mrs. Jones. "Teaching our youth about compassion and the selflessness of community heroes helps build a stronger, more empathetic school community."
